Interested in exploring protein phase separation and aggregation in health and disease?

We are always looking for outstanding students and researchers interested in understanding how proteins self-assemble to regulate biological function. Our lab combines approaches from protein biochemistry, cell biology, and biophysics to study protein phase separation and aggregation in the contexts of aging, neurodegeneration, and immune signaling.

Master's Students and Interns

We currently offer Master’s thesis projects and research internships focused on:

  • Neurodegenerative diseases – studying the molecular mechanisms underlying Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease
  • Immune cell signaling – investigating the regulation of immune protein secretion and activity
  • Biological materials – exploiting biological systems to develop smart materials

Students in the lab will gain hands-on experience in cell culture, protein biochemistry, microscopy, and computational analysis. They can also expect mentorship and support for both scientific development and career planning.

PhD Students

We are looking for curious and highly motivated candidates who are excited about research in the broad fields of cell biology, biochemistry, biophysics, neurodegeneration, and immunology. Applicants with backgrounds in biomedical engineering or chemical biology who are interested in applying quantitative approaches to biological systems are also encouraged to apply. Previous experience in protein phase separation and aggregation is advantageous but not at all required – curiosity, initiative, an inquisitive mindset and a collaborative spirit are what matter most.

PhD projects are designed to produce excellent science and impactful publications, provide students with cutting-edge interdisciplinary training and mentorship, and support them in developing into independent and creative scientists.

Postdoctoral Researchers

We welcome inquiries from outstanding postdoctoral candidates interested in studying the molecular mechanisms of protein self-assembly.

Postdoctoral researchers in the lab are encouraged to develop independent research directions and pursue competitive funding. We support applications for independent fellowships, including:
